Frequently asked questions (and answers!) about Queen City Animal Hospital

Does QCAH practice Fear-Free Care?

  • Absolutely! Queen City Animal Hospital is a Fear-Free Certified Practice. That means that we live and practice by Fear-Free ideals in everything we do. Our team is composed entirely of fear-free certified professionals, and as such, we focus on a gentle approach and handling with all of our patients. Most of our patients stay in the exam room with their humans for routine care so long as everyone is comfortable with that. We offer a feline only exam room and understand the unique needs and behaviors of cats. Learn more about cat friendly practices at www.catfriendly.comĀ
I see QCAH is an AAHA Accredited Practice. What does that mean?

  • It means Queen City Animal Hospital holds itself to a higher standard, and that your pet is receiving care at a hospital that has passed the highest standards in veterinary care. AAHA sends consultants to AAHA-accredited veterinary hospitals every two to three years to evaluate hospitals on their adherence to the AAHA Standards of Accreditation. AAHA consultants evaluate hospitals on approximately 900 different standards of veterinary care, ensuring the best care possible is offered. Learn more about our AAHA accreditation here!
Do you offer Spanish language assistance?

What services do you offer at your veterinary hospital?

  • At Queen City Animal Hospital, we offer a wide range of services including wellness exams, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, dental care, surgery, diagnostic testing, and urgent care for illness.
How often should I bring my pet in for a check-up?

  • We recommend bringing your young pet (under the age of 8 years) in for a wellness exam at least once a year. However, for senior pets or those with ongoing health issues, twice a year or more frequent visits may be necessary.
How can I prevent fleas and ticks on my pet?

  • We recommend using a monthly flea and tick preventative medication, as well as keeping your pet’s environment clean and well-maintained. We can provide guidance on the best products for your pet’s specific needs.
What is the best diet for my pet?

  • The best diet for your pet depends on their age, breed, health status, and other factors. We can work with you to develop a nutrition plan tailored to your pet’s individual needs.
How can I help my pet maintain good oral health?

  • Regular dental care is important for pets, just like it is for humans. We recommend brushing your pet’s teeth regularly and providing dental treats or toys designed to promote oral health. We also offer professional dental cleanings at our hospital.
